Swede Virtue was bred as a culinary swede for its attractive red skin and fine grained, sweet yellow flesh. Much improved in root quality and taste than older varieties. Swede Virtue is fully winter hardy.
Sowing Time: April to June. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (1/2in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart in well-drained, fertile soil, which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods.
Thin out seedlings at an early stage, to 10-15cm (4-6in) apart.
