Bunches of scarlet-red flowers are produced amongst the glossy-green foliage which is uniquely shaped, giving it the name of 'Dragon Wing'. Good heat tolerance and lush vigorous growth make this a spectacular plant.
Germinate January to March at around 25C (75F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Do not cover the seed. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days. Do not exclude light at any stage, as this helps germination.
Transplant, when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cooler, welt lit conditions. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart.
