Attractive, golden-green foliage with a distinct aniseed fragrance, making a vibrant contrast to the compact lavender-blue flower spikes. Adds interest to borders and containers, as well as attracts wildlife to your garden. Fragrant and excellent in borders or containers.
Sow seeds February to April into pots or trays on the surface of moist seed compost, do not cover seed. Place in a propagator or warm place and keep at a constant temperature of between 15-20C (59-68F). After sowing do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged, germination will usually take 30-90 days.
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-30cm (9-12in) apart.
For best results, provide a light, well drained soil.
