The colourful mounds of blue-green foliage topped by the nodding, scarlet and white spurred blooms give this Aquilegia an elfin appearance. Add a touch of mischief to your border!
CAUTION: Harmful if eaten.
Sow February to June or September to October. Germinate at 15-20C (60-68F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which takes 25-35 days. Do not exclude light at any stage, as this helps germination.
Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow on in cool, well lit conditions. Plant out when well grown 30cm (12in) apart.
T&M Kulturhinweise: Die Akelei wächst am besten im Halbschatten, in reichhaltigen und nahrhaften Boden.
