Description

The premier 'marrowfat' variety ideal for making ever-popular mushy peas. Harvest the pods when fully dry and mature and the peas are hard and firm. Peas can also be soaked for stews and casseroles. Pea Maro can also be eaten fresh when the pods are young. Although the peas are less sweet then most garden varieties they do have a distinctive more floury taste.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds March to June, every 10 days to ensure successional crops. Sow seeds 5cm (2in) deep flat bottomed drills spacing seeds about 2.5–5cm (1–2in) apart, in rows about 75cm ( 30in) apart.

Growing Instructions

When plants are 10cm (4in) tall provide twiggy sticks for support, or netting.

Aftercare

The peas will be ready to harvest around 12-13 weeks from sowing date, and regular picking will encourage further cropping.
