A popular autumn/winter maturing 'mooli' producing pure white, crisp fleshed, mild flavoured 25cm (10in) long roots. Mooli Radish Neptune has excellent bolt resistance and winter hardiness and stands well in good condition over a long period. Prefers a well-drained, rich fertile soil.
Sow seeds from early May to early August to avoid bolting. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (½in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 10cm (4in) apart.
Radishes are rich in Vitamin C and potassium and contain sulphur compounds.
Delicious thinly sliced and added to a stir fry.
