Sherbet Fizz is an easy to grow annual, specially selected for its striking colour combination. These unusual buff-coloured blooms also have intriguing darker red undersides on several layers of tightly packed petals, each tipped with red, creating a spectacular sherbet fizz effect as the blooms open.
Sown in drifts directly into borders they will make a stunning addition to your garden, as well as making an attractive cut flower.
Height: 40-45cm (16-18in).
Sow seeds March to May. Sow outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow seeds 12mm (½in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
For Spring/Summer Flowering Pot Plants - Sow in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in late summer/early autumn. Grow on cool in full light and water sparingly.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 20cm (8in) apart.
The petals can be used as a substitute for saffron, added to soups, rice or omelettes. They also make a bright addition to salads.
