Sow 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in good seed sowing compost from January to March. Germination takes 7-14 days at 70-75F (20-25C). The soil temperature should be steady, low or fluctuating temperatures may cause the seed to take much longer to germinate.
When large enough to handle transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, move to 10cm (4in) pots 5-6 weeks after sowing and liquid feed regularly commencing 3-4 weeks after final potting. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart.
Prefer full sun and well-drained soil.
