A breeding breakthrough! The Green Pansy! Amazing, olive-green blooms borne on compact, bushy plants, flowering over a long period. Suitable for borders or containers in winter or summer displays. Occasionally changeable weather conditions may provide you with even more unique shades, gently washed in blue and yellow.
Sow late winter/spring or late summer. Sow 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in good seed compost excluding light as darkness is beneficial. Germination usually takes 14-21 days at 19-24C (65-75F). Keep the soil just moist and avoid high temperatures which will prevent germination.
Summer sowings should be moved to a cold frame and planted out in early spring.
The petals make a colourful addition to green salads and can be candied to top desserts etc.
