Very dwarf, compact, base branching plants produce many short spikes, packed with flowers in a wide range of clear colours including pink, rose, blue and violet-mauve. Ideal for windy, exposed situations in bedding and containers. Height: 25-30cm (10-12in).
Germinate in February at 15-18C (59-64F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Apply a fine sprinkling of vermiculite, but do not cover the seed completely. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.
Transplant seedlings, when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for at least 14 days before planting out. Plant outside after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart.
