Grows 15-21m (50-70ft) in its natural state. Thick, stubby branches spring from the top of its enlarged swollen trunk which stores water. A conversation piece. Can also be grown as a house plant.
Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 75-80F (25-27C). Sowing Depth: 1/16 Inch (1.5mm). Sow at any time of year. Soak the seeds in fairly hot water for 2 hours. If the seeds are large they can first be lightly filed at one point on the seed before soaking.
Grow in good light, don't over-water and provide a minimum winter temperature of 10-13C (50-55F).
