An amazing achievement from seed! Dark chocolate, almost black foliage crowned with masses of fully double rich orange blooms. Stunning in containers.
Sow in February to early March on the surface of a good seed compost. Germination takes 15-60 days at 25°C (75F), lower temperatures may prevent germination. Don't exclude light, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing in helpful. After germination gradually reduce the temperature to 20C (70F).
When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions, 15-18C (60-65F). When well grown gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart in full sun or light shade and well drained soil.
For container plants and hanging baskets allow each plant 10-15cm (4-6in) of space. Allow the plants to become established for 7-10 days before placing outdoors.
