A variation on the well known cress, Brassica Hot Stuff has a less curly leaf and a unique flavour which is hotter and stronger than traditional varieties. Sprouting Seeds are incredibly easy to grow on the windowsill, in the conservatory or greenhouse and ready to harvest in 5-6 days. Brassica Hot Stuff is delicious in sandwiches, salads or as a garnish.
Sow seeds in trays of good seed compost, and place the tray on a warm window sill, providing a minimum temperature of 15-20C (59-68F). Sowing Depth: Lightly cover seeds with finely sieved compost or vermiculite. Sowing Time: All Year Round. After sowing, keep trays moist at all times, but not waterlogged. Do not exclude light as this helps germination. Germination usually takes 7-14 days.
Once seedlings are 5cm (2in.) high in the trays, they are ready to harvest. Simply cut with scissors, wash and add to your salad, in the same way as cress.
