Walnut Lara

Description

If you are lucky enough to have a large garden and you are looking for a large attractive tree, look no further than a nut tree. They are easy to grow, will quickly establish and you will soon be harvesting your own delicious nuts.

Walnut Lara is a spur bearing variety and consequently slightly more dwarf than others 10.5-12m (35-40ft) making it an ideal large garden variety. These excellent quality nuts are very tasty eaten dried, but many UK gardeners traditionally like eating walnuts fresh picked, when they can enjoy their unique creamy flavour.

Propagated onto 'Juglans Regia' rootstock. Trees take 1 year to establish followed by nuts in 2-3 years.

Growing Instructions

Nut trees need a lot of space to grow and must be planted at least 9m (30ft) away from any house.

Kitchen Notes

Walnuts are very nutritious and have health benefits such as containing the antioxidant compound called Ellagic acid the phytochemicals that may reduce the risk of developing cancers and lower blood cholesterol levels.
