If you are lucky enough to have a large garden and you are looking for a large attractive tree, look no further than a nut tree. They are easy to grow, will quickly establish and you will soon be harvesting your own delicious nuts.
Cobnut Kentish Cobs is probably the best-known UK variety and easiest to grow in the garden. This self fertile tree produces a mass of yellow/green catkins in the early spring hopefully followed by windy days to aid pollination resulting in a heavy crop of cobnuts in autumn.
Nut trees need a lot of space to grow and must be planted at least 9m (30ft) away from any house.
These delicious nuts are traditionally eaten freshly picked when green, sweet and succulent, but are also tasty when dried.
