Crab Apple 'Royalty'

Malus

A particularly attractive tree, Crab Apple 'Royalty' is unmistakeable for its dark mahogany foliage that turns to scarlet in Autumn. The deep pink springtime apple blossom is followed by dark red fruits that make a fabulous crab apple jelly. Any unpicked fruits will soften after a few frosts to create a sumptuous food source for wild birds. Crab apples are self fertile and if planted near orchard apple trees make excellent pollinators. Rootstock: M26. Height and spread: 3m (10').

Crab Apple 'Evereste'

As the winner of an RHS Award of Garden Merit, it's not difficult to see why this tree was so worthy of such an award. Its compact, broadly conical, tidy crown displays more-or-less lobed leaves with pink buds opening white in spring. The deciduous foliage of Malus 'Evereste' emerges green in spring, turning orange and yellow in autumn. Masses of orange and red blushed apples follow, lasting well into winter. Height: 7m (23'). The most stunning of Crab Apple trees maybe? Malus 'Prairifire' boasts reddish-magenta blossom in spring, accompanied by purple foliage which later turns green. Maroon, cone shaped fruits follow, which mature in autumn and persist well into winter. Crab Apple 'Sugar Tyme' (Large Plant)

Pale pink buds open to reveal fragrant, single, white flowers in spring, followed by masses of small, glossy, red crab apples which mature in autumn and persist well into the winter, providing food for wildlife. The foliage of Malus 'Sugar Tyme' is narrow and green in colour with a sharply serrated margin, turning yellow in autumn. The vivid red crab apples grow on long slender stalks until they mature in autumn. f you're looking for a Crab Apple tree with a bit less height and vigour as others on the market, you're in the right place. Malus 'Indian Magic' is deciduous, spring flowering and produces deep green foliage, turning orangey-red in autumn, when fruits follow soon after. Its foliage is bronze-tinged and flowers are pink. A compact, upright tree with pink buds that open to form attractive white flowers, followed in autumn by bunches of red, conical fruits, lasting all winter long, providing food for wildlife. In spring, foliage appears a glossy mahogany-red, turning dark green in summer, then yellow in autumn.
