Sowing time: February to June.Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Do not cover seed. Keep at a temperature of between 21-25C (70-75F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 14-30 days. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.

They will eventually turn purple!
By Karen Bruton 28-05-2016
Some time has elapsed since I posted my review 'Green?' stating that the young plants I'd raised from seed were still green rather than purple. I must now report that at the point at which I thought them ready to harden off outside, (originally sown on 3rd February and it's now late May) the leaves started to turn purple from the centre outwards. A few days later, they are almost completely purple. If I'd know this was the norm, I would have waited patiently but there is no warning of this on the packet. Perhaps this additional information is something that could be included in the instructions?
Thank you very much for your 4 star review. I am glad that you have been happy with your purchase. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.

I sowed under glass in February - only 4 of the seeds germinated, which is very low for a packet of 50 seeds. I have tended them since and they are growing into strong plants except that the leaves are still green. Not a hint of the purple leaves I expected even though they now have 4 tiers of true leaves. Is this normal and will they change? Photo supplied if required.
