Oenothera versicolor 'Sunset Boulevard'

Evening Primrose, Sundrops

Hardy Perennial

 Customer Rating

Well branched plants, red stemmed with rich green, lanceolate foliage. The striking flowers are in whorls, vivid orange/red when fully open and when over, turn to red. Like many Oenotheras, the combination of open and spent bloom together, is stunning. This very choice plant makes a wonderful addition to the perennial border and because it flowers in its first year from sowing, it also makes an attractive annual.

Culinary note: Add petals to any salad to add a splash of colour with a lettuce-like flavour. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Reviews
  1. Pretty and quite different

    By Peter Humphrey 31-07-2012

i was not sure what to expect. Most of the evening primroses I have are very tall and sometimes overpowering. These were a pleasant surprise growing to about 24" some a little taller but the flowers are really quite delicate and not a brash orange, more pale orange bordering a peach with the the reddish stems and the bluish green leaves it is a welcome addition to the border. I would highly recommend this plant
