A superb border plant with silver- green lanceolate foliage and many spikes of claret-red, almost black florets - a highly unusual colour in perennials. May also be used in containers or as a cut flower.

Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 65-85F (20 - 30C). Surface sow using peat/sand mix seed compost. Sow February to July. Germination usually takes 1-4 months.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions before planting out 45cm (18in) apart in full sun or part shade.

Prefers a moist, well drained soil.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes etc are delivered at the appropriate time for planting and will be stated on the product page or in your order acknowledgement page and email.

Orders for packets of seed incur a P&P charge of £1.95.
Orders which include any other products will incur a P&P charge of £4.95.
Where an order includes both packets of seeds and other products a maximum P&P charge of £6.90 will apply - regardless of the number of items ordered.
