Attractive and unusual bedding plant producing rich olive green bells delightful for use for real flower arranging with their highlighted tones and various shades of green. Can be dried for winter.
Sow in spring 3mm (1/8in) deep in a free draining seed compost. Germination can be slow. To speed this up seal in a polythene bag after sowing and leave in a refrigerator (3-5C) for 2 weeks then place in warmth 18-21C (65-70F) when germination usually starts after 14-21 days.
Transplant when large enough to handle into 8cm (3in) pots, grow cool and gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost 23x30cm (9x12in) apart in a sunny well drained site.
To dry pick on a dry day when flowers are fully open, hang upside down in small bunches in a dry airy place until fully dry.
