Gazania 'Kiss White' F1 Hybrid

Sow in late winter/early spring (February to April) in pots or trays of moist seed compost and lightly cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite to a maximum depth of 3mm (1/8in). Place in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag until germination occurs. Put in a warm place at a constant temperature of 18-25C (65-77F). Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Germination will usually take 14-30 days.

When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When well grown gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart in full sun and well drained soil.

   Excellent performance despite poor summer.

   I must admit that I have had a 'thing' for gazanias since being entranced by a magnificent border of them I saw when on holiday in Greece. I bought the Kiss collection with an idea of replacating the same in my garden this year. The plants grew well and were ultra healthy, too much so in fact as I found most went missing thanks to various members of my family, leaving me with only white! These were more of a creamy yellow but put on a great display and are still flowering now.....
