Sow January to March at 20-30C (68-86F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Do not cover the seed. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 10-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-30cm (9-12in) apart.

Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage further blooming.

Reviews
  1. Small plant, big impact!

    By Peter Ransom 16-08-2011

Antirrhinum 'Frosted Flames' is a gorgeous little summer border feature. Smaller than many varieties but offer a much bigger impact due to the variegated foliage. Easy to grow from seed and looks great if grown in clumps surrounded with taller planting. Likes plenty of sunshine and will survive a mild winter in a sheltered spot but can be prone to disease. If you are looking for colourful summer bedding with a difference then give 'frosted flames' a go.
