Plant sweet pea plugs directly into hanging baskets using a good quality compost and grow them on in cool conditions. Water retaining gel and slow release fertiliser can be incorporated into the compost prior to planting. Water sweet peas sparingly until the plants are fully rooted in.
When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise the hanging basket plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before hanging them outdoors in a sheltered, sunny or semi shaded position. Feed and water frequently throughout the summer to ensure an endless supply of flowers. When growing sweet peas it is essential to deadhead faded flowers frequently to prevent seedpods developing and extend the flowering period throughout summer. Caution: Sweet pea seeds are harmful if eaten.

These sweet pea plants - Sugar n Spice - received as a gift, are the best mail order plants I have ever seen. Healthy and well packed. I've planted them on and am hoping for great results. Would recommend to everyone.
