Rose Lily Grass

Rhodohypoxis

Hardy Perennial

Dainty, jasmine-like flowers in two shades of pink erupt in profusion above short clumps of lance-shaped foliage in late spring, followed by flushes of flowers throughout the summer. Giving a long-lasting display throughout the summer months, these starry gems also have a delicate sweet fragrance. Each Rose Lily Grass plug plant contains more than one bulblet for prolific flowering in borders, rock gardens and containers. Although fully hardy, Rhodohypoxis will need protection from winter wet. Height and spread: 15cm (6").

Pot up Rhodohypoxis plug plants and grow them on for transplanting to their final positions later on. When plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days. Plant Rhodohypoxis plants in containers and troughs, or in free draining rock gardens and borders in full sun. They prefer a neutral to acid soil. Add grit to the soil if necessary to improve drainage.
Feed and water rose lily grass regularly while in active growth. During winter, protect Rhodohypoxis from excessive winter rain as cold wet soils may cause the plant to rot. Container-grown specimens can be brought into a cold greenhouse over winter and the compost kept just moist.
