Primrose 'Blackberry Crush'

Primula

Hardy Perennial

An 'upmarket' addition to our popular range of seasonal bedding primroses. The unusual blooms of Primrose 'Blackberry Crush' offer three stunning shades for a truly striking floral display through late winter and spring. These hardy bedding plants make a real statement in the border but really come into their own when given centre stage in patio container displays and early season hanging baskets, where the opulent blooms can truly be appreciated. Add a touch of class to your spring displays this season with Primrose 'Blackberry Crush'. Height and spread: 20cm (8").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Try the sweet tasting petals on top of salads or even pancakes, crystallise them for use as cake decorations too. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Pot up plug plants and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions, watering sparingly until they are fully rooted in. When they are well grown, acclimatise primrose plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days, prior to planting out in their final positions in beds, borders and containers. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade on any fertile, moist, well drained soil.
During the winter, avoid over-watering container grown plants as this may cause the plants to rot in cold conditions. Deadhead faded primrose flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Divide over-crowded clumps of primroses from late autumn to early spring.
