Mimulus x cultorum 'Major Bees' (Large Plant)

Diplacus, Monkey Flower, Musk

Hardy Perennial

Mimulus are low growing, bushy plants, which are easy to grow, producing many orchid-like flowers from early summer. They love a moist soil, and can cope with waterlogging and growing at the edge of ponds.

Monkey Flowers can be grown in borders or in patio containers, and will flower for longer in a shady corner. Mimulus 'Major Bees' is a distinctive cultivar with golden-yellow, spotted flowers. Height and spread: 50cm (20").

Culinary note: The leaves of the monkeyflower can be eaten raw or cooked. They have a slightly bitter flavour and are mostly added to salads as the leaves can also be used as a lettuce substitute. For more details about edible flowers click here.
