Dierama Collection

Angel's Fishing Rod

Hardy Perennial

Clusters of delicate bell shaped flowers dangle from impossibly slender stems that arch and tremble in the breeze. From July, the elegant blooms rise above clumps of slender, semi-evergreen, grass like foliage before giving way to attractive seedheads in late summer. Dierama is a truly graceful hardy perennial and makes a most beautiful addition to cottage garden borders, adding movement and fluidity to planting schemes. Often referred to as Angel's Fishing Rod, it looks particularly attractive when overhanging water. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Grow Angel’s fishing Rod on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown, acclimatise Dierama plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting outdoors on rich, fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Dierama particularly dislikes soil that sits wet in winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting.
Feed and water Angel’s fishing Rod plants regularly until fully established. Cut back faded Dierama flower stems and old foliage in spring. Dierama plants resent disturbance and overcrowded clumps are best lifted and divided only when necessary in spring.
