Bare roots should be planted at the earliest opportunity following delivery to a depth of 2.5cm (1") deep. Grow alstroemeria in a sunny or semi shaded position in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Alternatively, plant the bare roots in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. When handling bare root alstroemeria, take care not to damage the fleshy roots.
Throughout the growing season, water Peruvian lilies regularly and feed container grown plants each month. When picking alstroemeria pluck the flowers rather than cutting as plucking stimulates the rhizome encourage further growth. In autumn, cut back the old Alstroemeria flower stems and apply a dry mulch of chipped bark or straw to the base of the plant to protect it from cold winter weather. Alstroemeria prefers to be left undisturbed but can be divided in autumn or spring if clumps become overcrowded. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.

  1. very pleased

    By Julie Laughland 29-08-2016

These plants didn't come to much in their first year but are now well established and have been flowering well since late June, the darker red ones are particularly pretty, and last well in a vase. A great purchase.

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. I am so glad that you were very pleased with your purchase. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in years to come.

  2. Better each year

    By Marjorie Kellington 14-08-2016

Bought 10 of these a couple of years ago. Did well last year but I was a bit worried how they would fair during the winter. However, I needn't have worried as it was mild and all came through and I think this winter they should be more established. The plants have increased in size this year and have been flowering for months and go on and on until the first frosts, making them a very worthwhile addition to any border,

Thank you very much for your review. I am very pleased that you have been happy with your purchase and thank you so much for taking the time to let us know. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.

especially as the flowers are so beautiful.
