Pot up Alstroemeria plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, plant Peruvian Lilies in a sunny or semi shaded position in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Alternatively, plant Alstroemeria in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
Throughout the growing season, water Peruvian lilies regularly and feed container grown plants each month. When picking alstroemeria pluck the flowers rather than cutting as plucking stimulates the rhizome encourage further growth. In autumn, cut back the old Alstroemeria flower stems and apply a dry mulch of chipped bark or straw to the base of the plant to protect it from cold winter weather. Alstroemeria prefers to be left undisturbed but can be divided in autumn or spring if clumps become overcrowded.Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.

I have to agree with the previous review regarding the colour of this product. Although quite pleasant they are not the colour shown in the paper catalogue and on line. disappointing

  2. Colour issue

    By Paul Baker 25-02-2014

I bought 12 plugs because I wanted the purple and dark pink flowers. When they bloomed, none had purple flowers, one was dark pink, the rest were smokey pink. The photo and product description are either deceptive or I was "unlucky " that none of the 12 plugs were what I ordered. Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to learn that you did not receive the correct variety within your recent order. I have arranged for replacements to be sent when our next crop is available. I hope this resolves your query to your satisfaction.
