Plug plants can be planted directly into flower pouches™. For baskets, beds and window boxes, pot up plants for transplanting at a later date. Grow them on in cool, bright conditions, watering sparingly until plugs are fully rooted in. When pansy plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days, prior to planting in their final positions.
Grow pansies and violas in any well drained soil, in sun or semi shade. Feed and water frequently, but take care not to overwater in winter as this can cause root damage should the compost freeze. Deadhead faded pansy flowers before they set seed to prolong the flowering period.

  1. Best Winter Hanging Basket in the Street!

    By Michael Finbar Sullivan 11-05-2013

Unofficially there is a hanging basket competition going on between the neighbours... Though I managed to kill a third of the plants (it was my fault not the plants... I am the worst gardener in the world) I still have, by a long chalk, the best basket in the street. If a simpleton (novice) gardener like me can manage to get complements on my baskets, these pansies must be good... can't wait for the next season to try again (currently preparing for the summer basket, not been so successful with this but I feel confident this year!)

  2. Flower pouches were wonderful all winter, spring and early summer

    By jo Komisarczuk 22-06-2012

In fact the last pouch was only taken down last weekend (mid June!) as the flowers were at last fading. I cannot rate them highly enough.
