Pot up fuchsias using well drained compost such as John Innes No.3, and grow on in warm, frost-free conditions. Pinch out the growing tips while fuchsia plants are still small to promote bushier growth and more flowers. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a 7 to 10 day period, before planting them in their final positions in patio containers and sunny or semi shaded borders.
Feed and water frequently throughout the summer to promote an endless supply of flowers. Deadhead faded fuchsia flowers to prolong the flowering period.

  1. Lovely flowers

    By Caroline Broome 07-10-2015

Although not as floriferous as your photo, and slow to get going, these three jumbo plugs filled a large patio container all summer long, no dead heading needed, quite drought resistant in a semi-shaded position. The flowers are such a beautiful colour and shape that I would purchase again next year.
