Andrew Tokely's Tips"'Divine' is entirely downy mildew resistant. In our trial it thrived, whereas the 10,000 busy Lizzies (Impatiens walleriana) we grew were decimated. Some of you may be aware of problems reported nationally concerning downy mildew (races 2 and 3) affecting the common busy Lizzie (Impatiens walleriana). There are no chemical treatments available at the present time to help, prevent or eradicate the problem. Thompson & Morgan has withdrawn this type of Impatiens from its plant ranges for the foreseeable future, in order to help reduce the epidemic. The disease is specific to the common busy Lizzie only, so other bedding plants, including New Guinea busy Lizzie types can be grown without risk." |
