Annual Plants


Annual plants fall under two categories - hardy and half-hardy. Hardy annuals can be grown outdoors and will tolerate cooler tempratures, whereas the more tender half-hardy annuals need protection and must not be planted out until all risk of frost has passed. These delightful summer flowers add colour and interest to beds, borders, containers and hanging baskets. Use the selections in the left menu to select the right plants for your garden.

Delight the senses with the intense, cherry and vanilla-like scent and large violet-blue flower clusters of Heliotrope ‘Cherry Delight’. Superb for creating colourful, fragrant bedding schemes or try planting heliotrope in summer pots on the patio where it can be enjoyed at close quarters. Although perennial in its native Peruvian habitat, Heliotrope is best grown as an annual in the UK as it will not survive our winters outdoors. Height: 30cm (12”). Spread: 35cm (14”). More info
