Nasturtium 'Chameleon'

Tropaeolum majus, Indian Cress

Half-hardy Annual

  • Bred by T&M’s plant breeding team
  • Exotic orchid markings
  • Variety of flower colours and markings all over the plant

An astounding development in nasturtiums, ‘Chameleon’ is fresh from Thompson & Morgan's innovative plant breeding programme. Not only do these summer bedding and container flowers look like exotic orchids, they also change colour. Check blooms every few days - the creamy coloured background of the petals takes on a pinkish hue depending on temperature and light levels. As easy to grow from seed as any other nasturtium, this exclusive variety offers masses of colour on compact plants that won’t run rampant - and don’t forget, they’re edible too! Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 35cm (14").

Culinary note: The peppery flavour of the leaves and colourful flowers will enrich salads and the unripe seeds can used like capers – delicious combined with cream cheese or butter in canapés. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Pot up Nasturtium plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When Indian Cress plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Plant nasturtium in full sun, in containers and borders on moist, well drained soil.
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Once established, Nasturtiums require little attention.
