Pot up calendula plants and grow them on in frost free conditions for transplanting outdoors later on. When plants are well-grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them in borders and containers in sun or partial shade.
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Deadhead faded calendula flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced and prevent them from self seeding. Culinary note: Calendula flowers are edible. The petals have been used as a substitute for saffron, and they make a bright and zesty addition to salads.

  1. Disappointed

    By Patricia Groves 07-05-2016

I also am disappointed with this 'winter wonder collection'. I can't believe the quality was checked before being sent out. They are so small and withered. After caring for them as advised I have now planted them out but doubt they will survive. My experience of some of these 'special offers' Thompson Morgan put out are not worth the postage !

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment with your purchase. If you would like to contact our Customer Care Department at, one of our agents will be more than happy to look in to this further for you.

  2. Twelve plants bought, seven plants fit enough to survive

    By Juliet Foster 14-06-2015

I've now paid for 12 of these and have seven that even survived post potting on. Banana Blizzard was potted at the same time and in identical conditions to its companions. Yet again it is the one that failed. While the others are ready for the garden already, Banana Blizzard is a withered little shred of evidence that there was once a plant there. Very disapponting, especially at these prices! Customer care have yet to respond to my email, as asked for, following my previous review of these calendulas. WHy ask people to email when an auto-reposnse is all that is ever sent back?!

Thank you for your review. I can confirm that I personally replied to your email on 11/6/15 so please check your inbox on this date. I apologise again for the problems you have had with your purchase.
