Tulip 'Mixed Parrot'

Hardy Bulb

You'll absolutely love these exotic-looking parrot tulips! Hardly recognisable as a tulip, the blooms are fringed, ruffled and multi-coloured, often with irregular streaks of a contrasting colour for an exciting display. Held above tall sturdy stems, these tulip flowers are also superb for cutting, lasting well in a vase. Grow Tulip 'Mixed Parrot' in large groups in beds, borders and containers for a colourful late spring spectacle. Bulb size 11/12. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 20cm (8").

Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 13cm (5") apart.
After flowering, deadhead the faded tulip flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in summer. Caution: Tulip bulbs are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten.

  1. Nothing like the photograph

    By Thomas Wolverson 06-05-2016

The tulips I received are beautiful, but there are only around three different varieties ad only one of them looks anything like the picture (the dark purple one). None of them are bicolour. The different varieties also differ in vigour so they've grown and flowered at different rates and reach different heights, so the display is somewhat disappointing.
