Perfect hedging or screens, Green beech can be grown to almost any height required and will maintain a good density and tidy form, only needing to be clipped once or twice a year. Its growth forms a thick, interwoven hedge that is ideal for security as well as looking extremely decorative too, Fagus sylvatica tends to hold most of its leaves over winter, even though they have died off and sheds them in spring as the new growth appears, helping to keep privacy to a maximum. Supplied as 50 - 80 cm bareroots (20 - 31"). Height: 12m (39'). Spread: 8m (26'). Planting distance: 30cm (12"). (4 plants per metre for a single line hedge).

Plant beech hedging in fertile, well drained soil. Fagus hedging is suitable for positions in full sun or partial shade.
Water regularly until established. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost along the base of the hedge to provide winter protection when young.
