Viburnum macrocephalum 'Happy Fortuna' (Large Plant)

Hardy Shrub

Viburnum macrocephalum 'Happy Fortuna', The Chinese Snowball Bush, is a resilient and tough deciduous shrub that grows well in most situations. Large blooms, looking very much like that of a hydrangea, appear green in late spring and as they develop, they turn to a crisp, clean white. The leaves are quite densely packed on the shrub and help to form a great backdrop for the blooms, these are also good for autumn colour later in the year. Height: 500cm (197"). Spread: 400cm (157").

Grow Viburnum plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any moderately fertile, well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Viburnum shrubs at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Viburnum requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and reduce any stems that spoil the symmetry of the plant.
