Grow Pyracantha plants as free standing shrubs or trained against a walls and fences. Plant Pyracantha in any well drained, reliably moist soil in sun or semi shade. Choose a position with shelter from cold, drying winds.
Feed and water Pyracantha plants regularly until full established. Prune free standing shrubs in early spring, removing damaged and poorly positioned shoots. For wall trained shrubs, tie in main shoots to form part of the permanent framework, and cut back unwanted shoots to the main stem. After flowering in summer, shorten the remaining stems to 3 leaves from the base, in order to expose the developing berries. Remove any old fruit trusses in spring to make room for new growth.
