Philadelphus 'Lemoinei' (Large Plant)

Mock Orange

Hardy Shrub

A well known plant with a less well known variety of flower, Philadelphus 'Lemoinei' is a Mock Orange with slightly unusual charateristics; The lighter green leaves of this compact, hardy shrub are soon decorated in summer with open white blooms which give off a delightful, sweet scent. The centres of each of these flowers is filled with bright yellow stamens which add a vivid contrast to the petals, making it stand out from the others of the same variety. Suitable for both large containers or shrub borders alike. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 150cm (59").

Grow Philadelphus plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Mock Orange plants at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Philadelphus requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
