Hardy Shrub

The very first variety of Hydrangea arborescens to be propagated in the Endless Summer series. The mid-green ovate leaves provide a particularly stunning backdrop to the showy mopheads.

Hydrangea arborescens 'Bella Anna' is particularly hardy and flowers on both old and new growth, budding up later than most other species. Height & Spread: 90cm (35").

Hydrangea arborescens 'Bella Anna' prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.

It can be cut back harsh to produce fewer but larger blooms the following year, or be left as it is to produce more but smaller blooms on the old growth.

Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering if desired as this will also improve the shape of the plant the following year. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant.
