Dipelta ventricosa (Large Plant)

Hardy Shrub

Dipelta ventricosa is an upright, bushy, deciduous shrub with ovate, pointed, mid-green leaves. In late spring to early summer, clusters of trumpet-like, deep lilac-rose flowers with white-rimmed, golden-orange margins are produced with curiously swollen bases. This semi-hardy plant is rare in cultivation due to its difficulty to propagate, making it a unique addition to the garden, no matter how small or large. Height: 4m (13'). Spread: 3m (10').
