Japanese BarberryThis dwarf deciduous Barberry makes a colourful addition to rockeries and borders. This RHS AGM variety has red-purple foliage that brings a bright splash of colour in spring before maturing to fiery scarlet in Autumn. The yellow spring flowers are loved by pollinators, and the berries that succeed its blooms will attract plenty of birds. Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea 'Atropurpurea Nana' is hardy, growing happily in any well drained soil. With its neat, compact habit, it makes a useful low hedge too.
