Fuchsia Berry

  • Tasty berries and beautiful blooms
  • Brand new fruit high in Vitamin C
  • Up to 300 berries per plant each year
  • Unique flavour combining fig and kiwi
  • Keeps on flowering while fruiting

A brand new strain of edible fuchsia berry from Thompson & Morgan's own breeding programme. Not only does the Fuchsia Berry produce large sweet fruits packed with vitamin C and nutrients, it also produces beautiful blooms right through to autumn.

This fuchsia plant is the perfect addition to garden displays, but the heavy fruit yields make the Fuchsia Berry a worthwhile addition to allotments too, helping to create a pretty and productive plot! Though frost tender, the Fuchsia Berry can be kept through winter if protected in a sheltered spot or in a greenhouse.

The fruits have a flavour somewhere between a fig and a kiwi. Each plant will produce up to 300 delicious juicy berries, Fuchsiaberry is partially self-fertile and will crop without a pollination companion; but for the heaviest crops it is best grown with other fuchsias.

Unlike other Fuchsia varieties it will keep on flowering even when producing fruit - right up to the first frost. The Fuchsia Berry is set to change allotments and flower borders in the UK. Height 90cm (36"). Spread: 45cm (18").

  • The begonia that thinks it's a daffodil!
The daffodil begonia was almost lost to cultivation, but we've worked with breeders to bring an old-time classic back to UK gardens. This vintage begonia variety has been re-worked to offer stunning giant daffodil-like blooms for a fresh contemporary look to patio and border displays in shades of salmon pink. The fancy begonia blooms are held above dark green velvety foliage for a unique display in your garden this summer. As with all begonia plants, 'Daffadowndilly' will thrive in shady spots, lifting drab areas of the garden with vibrant colour from mid-summer though to the first hard frosts of winter. The flowers are virtually sterile, meaning the plants just keep on piling on new blooms. Set them in patio pots, baskets or border displays and they are bound to attract attention from your gardening friends! Height and spread: 30cm (12").

Culinary note: Add the bright coloured petals to sandwiches or salads for a light lemon taste and crisp texture. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Foxglove 'Illumination Ruby Slippers'

Digitalis x valinii

  • New colour break
  • Multi-flowering Foxgloves
  • Prennial habit

The Digitalis Illumination Series, from our very own breeding programme, has changed the world of Foxgloves; taking them from a wiry, brief-blooming biennial wildflower to a handsome, tidy yet shrubby perennial with true garden performance.

Following several outstanding colour developments, our breeding team has done it again with the creation of a brand new colour break. Digitalis 'Illumination Ruby Slippers' is the latest addition to our award winning series. This beautiful foxglove produces multiple spires of open-mouthed blooms on short stocky plants that are just as at home in a patio pot as a cottage garden border scheme. Being completely sterile, this stunning Foxglove won't set seed, making it incredibly long flowering. As the main flower spike fades, multiple sideshoots spring up to offer five months of vivid floral colour. Parentage from the little-known Isoplexis (Canary Island Foxglove) gives this exciting new Digitalis its fabulous colouring and perennial habit. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 45cm (18")

  • The fast-track to a hassle-free garden - just plant, water and enjoy!

As a result of over 10 years breeding and selection by T&Ms flower breeders, Rudbeckia Cherokee Sunset® was born. Never before has there been such a spectacular range of colours of fully double to semi-double Rudbeckia, with large 3-4in blooms. Shades of golden yellow, orange, bronze and mahogany make up this stunning blend that resembles the attractive colour spectrum of an Indian Sunset. Vigorous, free branching plants, with strong stems, which flower over a long period from mid summer to early autumn. Cherokee Sunset® is outstanding for adding height, colour and interest to beds, borders and large containers. Also makes an impressive cut flower. T&M are proud to be the first UK packet seed company to have an All American Selection Winning variety from its own breeding programme. This prestigious award is presented to varieties that have outstanding garden performance, quality blooms, a unique colour range and that show a significant improvement over existing varieties of the species.

Dianthus 'Odessa Amy'

Carnation, Pink

  • Mini carnations ideal for small spaces!
  • 30 blooms or more at any one time!!
  • Bright colours and a spicy fragrance

This tough garden variety is one of the best performers we've seen in both field and container trials. These compact carnation plants make up for their lack of height with an impressive display of perfumed blooms. Carnation 'Odessa Amy' really puts on a heavy flowering display, expect 30 blooms on each plant at any one time. Not only does it bring vivid colours to your patio and table top containers, you'll also be rewarded with a warm spicy fragrance - something that is missing from many other modern bred varieties in the search for stronger colours. The short stature of 'Odessa Amy' makes it a perfect choice for adding colour to the front of borders, and this cute carnation won't look out of place in rock garden plantings either. Height 20cm (8"). Spread 25cm (10").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Curcuma Collection

Curcuma alismatifolia, Siam Tulip, Ornamental Turmeric

  • Rare summer flowering bulb
  • Be one of the first to grow these exotic Thai flowers in the UK
  • Perfect summer patio pot plant and winter houseplant.

Add a touch of Thailand to your summer patio or conservatory! You may have seen these exotic flowers in luxury tropical bouquets, but it's unlikely you've seen them growing in a garden setting here in the UK. We've managed to secure a limited stock of these unusual summer flowering bulbs, so you can be one of the first UK gardeners to add them to your displays for real wow factor on the patio this summer. Despite their exotic looks, curcuma tubers are no more difficult to grow than frost tender begonias and dahlias. Start them into growth in early spring on a warm windowsill or in the greenhouse for months of summer colour on the patio from their alien-like, waxy flowerheads. Each flower spike is a work of art and is perfectly shown off above the ornamental pleated foliage. All varieties in our mix are winter temperature hardy, but we’ve given them a half-hardy rating because they won't cope outside during a wet winter. If you can keep them dry, then by all means leave them outside during the colder months to go into a dormant phase, but we think you'll get more from these luxurious Siam tulips if you bring them in before the first autumn frost and let them bloom through winter on a warm windowsill. Curcuma ‘Anna Pink’ will add a flash of hot pink to your displays. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread 30cm (12").

Dianthus 'Blackjack'

Carnation

New modern cut-flower quality carnation plants packing the heavenly scent of antique varieties! Modern breeding work has seen the unmistakable scent of carnations all but disappear in the search for longer, cut flower-quality stems. Fortunately Carnation 'Blackjack' bucks that trend. Not only does it offer a unique colour combination, the near black blooms also bring punchy clove-like fragrance to the garden. A perfect border carnation, it also performs well in containers. Originally planned for the commercial cut flower market, you won't be disappointed by the endless supply of fresh stems either! Keep the colour and scent in the garden or use Dianthus 'Blackjack' as your very own cut flower carnation. Height and spread: 50cm (20").

Culinary note: Use the clove like tasting petals for adding to cakes, either for flavour or decorating, suitable for soups, salads and sauces too. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Rose 'Hot Chocolate'

Rosa

  • Large flowered Hybrid tea
  • Fragrant floribunda
  • Unusual blooms
With the colours of a rich, indulgent hot chocolate drink this cracking rose is a bit different to the usual reds, pinks and yellows you see in your neighbours' gardens! The name alludes to the rusty orange blooms which open out to a rich smoky brown. While the colours will remind you of chocolate, the scent is rich and fruity as you would expect from a hybrid tea variety. With the disease resistance you've come to expect from modern roses, 'Hot Chocolate' repeat-flowers throughout the summer and early autumn, making it an economical and long lasting addition to borders. Use some of the flower stems as cut flowers for unique vase displays. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 60cm (24").,

Geranium 'Bug Off' Collection

Banish mosquitoes from your summer patio tables with this unique plant!

Nothing spoils a summer evening in the garden like an attack of marauding mosquitoes! Scented leaf geraniums go a long way in deterring these little biters, but these leafy plants often lack the visual impact needed around garden seating areas and patios.

We have the decorative answer with Geranium 'Mosquitaway'. Crossbreeding leafy geraniums and pretty Angel Geraniums has brought the best of both worlds to a unique duo of scented leaf geraniums with masses of lavish flowers. First is the dark flowered 'Eve', which is perfectly contrasted with the near opposite flowers of her paler sister 'Lizzy'. These dainty pelargonium plants look fantastic planted in combination in small table-top containers, where the pungent foliage will keep the mosquitoes away. Alternatively set them around the patio to banish the bugs. Easy to grow, and flowering non-stop too - order early and grow on in the greenhouse and these beautiful plants will bloom from April right though to October. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 25cm (10").

Calendula 'Power Daisy'

English Marigold, Marigold, Pot Marigold

  • In constant flower from June through to October
English pot marigolds are a garden favourite - vibrant colours, heavy flowering and great for pollinators. Sadly they don't last long, often burning out and going to seed at the height of summer. Our 'Power Daisy' changes that! Not only does it flower continuously into October, living up to its name this breeding breakthrough allows you to use calendula plants where you've never grown them before! A controlled, spreading habit, plus hundreds of yellow daisy-like blooms make them the perfect new hanging basket plant. With little need for deadheading (the flowers just keep coming without setting seed), utilise the spreading habit in patio pots and as ground cover in the border for a mass of golden colour all summer long. Height and spread 40cm (16").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.

The most exciting development in shelling peas since the launch of current best seller Hurst Green Shaft. We've been truly amazed at the outstanding performance of this powerhouse pea. Stransvaesia

The best known of its species, Photinia ‘Red Robin’ is well loved for its blaze of bright scarlet young foliage in spring. The glossy new leaves and crimson stems make a strong contrast with the mature green foliage lower down the plant, giving an eye catching two-tone effect. The Spring foliage is complemented by rounded clusters of creamy white flowers. This popular evergreen shrub is versatile too - plant it in woodland areas and shrubberies for a splash of spring colour, or grow it as a low maintenance specimen plant. This colourful RHS AGM variety even tolerates hard pruning, making a useful evergreen hedge. In frost prone areas, plant Photinia next to a warm wall or in the shelter of other shrubs. Night Phlox ovata

Zaluzianskya ovata

Aptly named, the Night Phlox will fill your evening garden with a rich and sweet scent from its delicate flowers. Each bloom has a white face, backed in red, which closes up from midmorning to then reopen much later in the day. Zaluzianskya ovate, is a half hardy, evergreen perennial which will tolerate our colder winters if given a little protection. Well worth the time, to keep this lovely spreading plant in your borders or containers to enjoy it's fragrance year after year! Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 40cm (16") More info

Ferraria crispa 'Starfish Lily'

Black Flag, Sea Spider Iris

This attractive oddity is a must-have for all plant collectors out there. The unusual star-shaped flowers of the starfish lily are heavily patterned with mottled brown and yellow markings and purple splashes. Remaining closed on a dull day, they will burst open as soon as the sun shines down on them, so make sure to set your bulbs in a garden hot spot for the best display. Starfish lily plants can also be grown as a greenhouse or conservatory specimen plant. While hardy across much of the UK we have rated it as half-hardy for those gardening in colder regions of the country, where it may be best to lift the bulbs in autumn, or for convenience, grow them in pots and plunge them into border soils for summer display, lifting again in autumn. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 25cm (10")

Petunia Frills & Spills Clara'

  • Bred in Britain for the British climate
  • Fragrant double-bloomed petunias
  • Larger than other double trailing types
  • Completely weather resistant

This new addition to our customer favourite Petunia ‘Frills and Spills’ collection is such a stand out variety that we had to give it its own listing. As with others in the collection, the ruffled hot pink flowers of Petunia ‘Frills & Spills Clara’ are larger than other double trailing types, so they look fantastic tumbling from baskets, window boxes and patio containers. This British bred petunia stands up perfectly to the British weather, bouncing back after both summer rain and drying summer sun. Many double-flowered petunias lack scent, but as with all ‘Frills & Spills’ varieties, Clara offers that classic petunia perfume that radiates around the garden on a warm summer’s day. If you only have room for one ‘Frills & Spills’ variety in your garden this summer, make sure it’s Clara. Trail to: 45cm (18").
