Clematis napaulensis

Clematis forrestii, Old Man's Beard

Originating from Nepal and parts of China, this rare and unusual clematis has a fascinating growth habit. Clematis napaulensis is cloaked in lush green foliage from autumn to early summer, before shedding its leaves in summer when most plants are in full growth. It’s bell-shaped, winter blooms release a delicate perfume that hangs on the cool December air, that form interesting seed heads as spring approaches. This extraordinary, low maintenance Clematis needs little pruning, making it ideal for brightening the dull winter months. Grow it through another deciduous climber to hide its bare stems in summer. Height: 3m (9'). Spread: 1.5m (5'). Pruning group: 1. Supplied in 7cm pots.
