A blaze of summertime colour that thrives, whatever the weather! The glorious daisy flowers of Gaillardia 'Arizona Sun' produce a constant display of large flower heads in fiery shades of orange, yellow and red. The cheery blooms persist well into autumn, and make spectacular cut flowers for an indoor display. This low maintenance, hardy perennial is trouble-free and even copes well on poor, dry soils. Perfect for containers or filling gaps at the front of sunny borders. Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 45cm (18").

How to Grow

Grow gaillardia plants in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun.

More Info

Feed and water blanket flower plants until they are fully established. Once established gaillardia copes well with dry soils and is reasonable drought tolerant. Regular deadheading of faded gaillardia flowers will encourage more blooms to be produced. In late summer, cut back old foliage and flower stems to 15cm (6") to encourage basal growth before the first frosts. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of blanket flower in spring, and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.
