Flowering Months

The arching stems of Buddleja davidii 'White Ball' are tipped with large plumes of tiny white flowers from July to September. Commonly known as the butterfly bush, this fragrant cultivar attracts clouds of butterflies to its nectar rich blooms. Like all Buddlejas, this hardy deciduous shrub is vigorous and easy to grow, making it ideal for growing in wildlife gardens, at the back of borders or in a large container on the patio. Height and spread: 200cm (79").

How to Grow

Plant Buddleja into garden borders in any moist, well-drained garden soil, in full sun or semi-shade. Alternatively grow Butterfly Bush plants in patio containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.

Feed and water container-grown plants regularly. Buddleja planted directly into borders will require only occasional attention. In spring, prune your Butterfly Bush back to a permanent low framework of 3 or 4 buds from the base of the plant. Deadhead faded Buddleja flowers to prolong the flowering season.
