This eye-catching red Polyantha rose produces its scentless, scarlet blooms in large clusters throughout the summer. Well branched stems are cloaked in glossy green foliage that shows good resistance to disease. A neat, compact variety with a low spreading habit, Rose 'Red Fairy' makes a lovely patio shrub or an attractive addition to sunny borders. The colourful blooms also make good cut flowers. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 100cm (39").
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Rosehips and petals can be used in making syrups and the petals will add flavour to cold drinks or fruit dishes. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
More Info Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning Polyantha roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
