Ligustrum ovalifolium 'Aureum' is the Golden Privet, with pretty, gold-lined evergreen foliage. Plants will produce clusters of white flowers, but this is unlikely if hedges are trimmed regularly.
Ligustrum plants are ideal for any size of garden, and can be grown in sun or deep shade. This easy to grow evergreen can be grown as a free-standing shrub or as a fast growing hedge which will last for many years. Height and Spread: Up to 4m (13').

Each trough contains a 1 metre length of pre-planted hedging to create a mature looking hedge from the very moment it is planted. With well-established root systems, you’ll find that trough-grown hedges are correctly spaced, making them much easier to plant. The healthy framework of branches are nicely knitted together, and can be trimmed to the ideal height immediately after planting. Better still, you can plant them all year round, so long as adequate irrigation is provided. If planting is delayed then trough-grown hedges can be easily maintained until you are ready, without the need for ‘heeling in’.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
While Ligustrum are usually evergreen plants, staying in leaf through winter, severe cold temperatures can cause them to drop some or all of their leaves. This is a natural reaction and causes no permanent damage even when specimens lose all their leaves. New growth comes back quickly in spring.

Grow Privet in any well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay, and areas of pollution.
More Info Ligustrum can be grown as a free-standing shrub or trained as a hedge. Free-standing shrubs will require minimal pruning; simply removed any dead, damaged or diseased growth each spring. Trim hedges in May and again in August. After pruning, mulch plants with 5cm (2") of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plants. Caution: harmful if eaten.
