A superb architectural specimen, Italian cypress 'Stricta' is well known for its use in formal Mediterranean gardens to add depth and structure. The tall columns can be used to break up a flat eye line in any scheme however and shouldn't be restricted to 'Italian' themed gardens. Cupressus sempervirens can also be grown in large containers on a patio or flanking an entrance to add impact. Slow growing and drought resistant these plants are also virtually maintenance free. Height after 10 years: 3m (10'). Ultimate height in UK conditions: 12m (39'). Spread: 4m (13'). Supplied at a height of 30-50cm.

Plant out Italian cypress an any well drained soil in full sun and provide shelter from strong, drying winds. If container grown, use a good quality soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
More Info Feed well and nourish the soil prior to planting and water regularly during the first year until established. Applying a mulch at the base of the plant in spring will aid its growth.
